Sicily shape pumice earrings
"L'aricchini ca Sicilia ri pumici"
These original pumice earrings display the unmistakable shape of Sicily.
They are handcrafted with love by a proud native Sicilian artisan who collected these light volcanic rocks while they were floating on the Tyrrhenian sea and turned them into a charming jewelry.
While wearing this pair of Sicily shape earrings you’ll emanate a strong sense of Sicilian passion!
Sicily is a magical land, where even the stones have a lot to tell.
Sicily is the largest producer of pumice because of its eruptive volcanoes.
Pumice is created when super-heated, highly pressurized rock is violently ejected from a volcano. Rapid cooling creates bubbles. This is why pumice is so tender and lighter than sea water.
Sicilian pumice rocks come from the Aeolian archipelago, a UNESCO site and also a paradise in our beloved island.
On the Aeolian Islands, the island of Lipari is entirely made up of volcanic rock, including pumice. Large amounts of igneous rock on Lipari are due to the numerous extended periods of volcanic activity from the Late Pleistocene.
Nowadays it is very easy to see small pumice pebbles floating around the Aeolian Islands or in front of the northern shores of the Sicilian coastline.
We are very glad to collect these pumice rocks and turn them into little treasures that emanate a strong sense of Sicilian passion and all Sicily’s good vibes!
These refined handmade Sicily shape pumice earrings are inspired by the Sicilian identity and by the unmistakable triangular shape of our beloved island.
They are entirely handmade with love in Sicily by the hands of an expert craftsman who strives to preserve the soul of “Sicilianity”.
They are unique pieces: no two objects are alike, and this is the beauty of this original artwork.
